The Scope
- Rooftop equipment. Rooftop unit work set by crane from the mall’s rear service area.
- New ductwork. Sheet metal supply trunks and insulated duct drops laid out for an open, exposed retail ceiling.
- Air distribution. Diffusers and grilles placed to the store layout so the sales floor and fitting rooms stay even.
- Controls and startup. Thermostat and controls tied in, then the system started, tested, and balanced before turnover.
Working at an Operating Mall
Mall work runs on the landlord’s rules. The crane set up in the loading dock, the pick was scheduled around deliveries, and the lift zone stayed clear of shoppers and trucks. Inside, the ductwork went in during the tenant buildout alongside framing and drywall, so the store was ready on schedule.

Retail HVAC Questions
What does a full mechanical buildout for a mall store include?
The rooftop equipment, new supply and return ductwork through the open ceiling, diffusers and grilles, thermostat and controls, and startup and testing before the store opens. We coordinate the rooftop work with mall management and the tenant’s general contractor.
How do you set rooftop units at an operating mall?
Through the mall’s service and loading areas, with the crane pick scheduled around deliveries and store hours, and the lift zone kept clear of the public.
Do you work with national retail brands and their GCs?
Yes. We work to the tenant’s design criteria and the landlord’s requirements, and we hand over the documentation both sides need at turnover.
Where do you do retail HVAC work?
Retail centers and malls across North Texas and the greater DFW area, plus Houston and larger commercial programs across Texas.
